Warm up naturally and improve your health from your home, without the need to visit/register at special treatment centers/gyms/rehabilitation centers.
The heat from infrared saunas penetrates deeper into our body, thus achieving greater detoxification and an effect on more organs.
Infrared saunas have been widely used in recent years with excellent results in detoxification, diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, recovery after exercise, treatment of chronic pain, rheumatoid arthritis, anti-aging, weight loss, etc.
Learn more about the benefits of using an infrared sauna…
The widespread use of infrared saunas in recent years is due to new technologies, mainly carbon panels, which have lowered production costs, making the purchase of saunas for home use possible for a wide audience.
Read below what you need to know before buying an infrared sauna and what features to look out for.
Learn more about the differences that make Clearlight a leading infrared sauna manufacturer.

Sauna Size / Capacity
Saunas, depending on the model, can accommodate from 1 to 5 users.
Smaller models take up less space and are more economical.
However, the more spacious models can be used simultaneously by more users for family use or use with friends, etc., thus adding a social/psychological dimension to the benefits of sauna use.
Also, the larger models can be used for exercise, when we want to receive the simultaneous benefits of infrared therapy and exercise (e.g. hot yoga session).
Consumption (Watts)
Infrared saunas, depending on the model, usually consume between 1.5-4kW, which is equivalent to common radiators.
Saunas with the most watts consume more electricity, however, they do not necessarily heat more, as the technology/performance of the heating panel also plays a big role.
Lifetime
Ceramic panels have an estimated lifespan of ~8,000 hours.
Carbon panels have an estimated lifespan of ~12,000 hours respectively.
Clearlight's True Wave™ full spectrum carbon/ceramic hybrid panels have an estimated lifespan of 30,000 hours.
Using your sauna 5 times a week, True Wave™ heating panels can last up to 125 years!
Warranty
How many years of warranty does the company from which you will buy the sauna provide?
Since the infrared sauna is a significant financial investment and you will want to use it without any problems, we recommend that you choose companies that provide a multi-year warranty and/or offer the option of extending the warranty.
All Clearlight saunas have a lifetime warranty for home use and a 5-year warranty for corporate use.
In the rare event that you experience a problem with your sauna, our lifetime warranty covers the entire sauna - heaters, controls, electrical and wood components... even the included sound system. You'll never have to worry if something goes wrong with your Clearlight® sauna.
Learn more about the differences that make Clearlight a leading infrared sauna manufacturer.
Indoor or outdoor
Saunas that can be placed outdoors should have higher levels of thermal insulation, greater heater power, and weather-resistant materials and/or a protective cover.
In the case of purchasing an outdoor sauna, which is more vulnerable to damage or malfunction, we recommend that you trust a reliable company like Clearlight.

Infrared wavelength/penetration depth and therapeutic benefits
Near infrared heat (wavelengths 700 – 1400 nm) and mid infrared heat (wavelengths 1400 – 3000 nm) have shorter wavelengths than far infrared heat (3000 nm – 0.1 mm).
Wavelength is the distance between two consecutive peaks of an electromagnetic wave and affects its properties, such as energy and absorption.
The penetration depth of infrared heat increases as the wavelength increases and becomes maximum in near infrared heat with wavelengths up to ~940nm.
At longer wavelengths, the depth of penetration is reduced, however absorption by water in the skin and subcutaneous tissues increases and the absorbed heat can be transferred deeper into the body. This process creates a sensation of deeper penetration, as thermal effects can reach beyond the depth of direct visual penetration.
For detoxification and whole-body warming, far-infrared heat is considered best, as its strong absorption by water in the skin promotes intense sweating and effective detoxification, along with cardiovascular and relaxing benefits.
Also, the human body emits far infrared heat with a wavelength of approximately 9400nm.
Mid-infrared heat helps increase circulation through vasodilation, transporting oxygen and white blood cells to areas that need healing, and also increases heart rate and overall metabolism.
Near infrared heat, like red light devices, with deeper penetration is considered better for skin rejuvenation, wound healing, and cellular repair.
The type of infrared heating panel used by the sauna you choose determines the type of infrared heat you will receive.
Heating with ceramic panels or carbon panels
Infrared saunas use either ceramic panels or carbon panels.
The surface temperature of the heating panel determines the wavelength of the infrared radiation. The lower the surface temperature of the heater, the longer the wavelength of the infrared heat.
Ceramic panels
Ceramic panels develop high temperatures faster and are therefore popular in infrared saunas. They have a high surface temperature and their surface is covered with a protective material.
Ceramic heaters produce shorter infrared wavelengths, i.e. mainly near infrared heat with wavelengths of 700 – 1400 nm and mid infrared heat with wavelengths between 1400 – 3000 nm.
Many infrared heating panels on the market have a single rod and a metal reflector on the back. A single rod heater must operate at a much higher surface temperature, so protection is needed to avoid burns. Generally, these heaters produce low-quality infrared heat, with minimal far-infrared heat.
Carbon panel
Carbon panels emit at a longer wavelength (far infrared with wavelengths between 3000 nm – 0.1 mm).
Carbon panels operate at lower temperatures, allowing users to tolerate longer treatment sessions where internal temperatures of up to 60°C are achieved. They are also lighter, occupy larger surfaces, and provide a more uniform heat distribution.
Hybrid panels
Almost every other infrared sauna company uses industrial heaters that have been adapted for use in infrared saunas.
Clearlight manufactures its own patented infrared sauna heating panels.
True Wave™ infrared panels are the only ones on the market that combine both the high performance of ceramics with the long wavelength of carbon to produce a sauna session that is unparalleled.
In addition, Clearlight includes True Wave II™ full-spectrum infrared panels in all its models.
True Wave II™ Full Spectrum Heating Panels incorporate all three wavelengths, near infrared, mid infrared and far infrared, all in one heating panel and established the term full spectrum infrared panels. They use a special type of halogen bulb in their patented True Wave® Full Spectrum Heating Panels, providing a wide range of infrared wavelengths, as well as powerful heat.

Installation points for heating panels
One of the keys to sweating and effectively detoxifying in an infrared sauna is warming up your entire body and especially your core.
Many saunas lack panels at the front, leaving your chest and abdomen cold and without any health benefits.
Clearlight saunas also have heating panels at the front of the cabin.
Also, most companies that use carbon panels extend their panels up to the head area and almost to the ceiling in the sauna, in an attempt to try to put more heat into the sauna. They do this because of the low efficiency of their panels. This is a waste of infrared heat, as it means more heating in the upper, unusable part of the sauna, but also a buildup of heat in the head, which is more sensitive to heat. This causes discomfort for many and results in shorter and less therapeutic sauna sessions.
Clearlight saunas place the heating panels at a higher height, avoiding useless heat generation and relieving headaches.
Finally, many saunas do not have heating under the feet, leaving them cold. Clearlight saunas also have heating under the feet.
Electromagnetic field levels
Infrared heating panels usually emit high alternating electric and magnetic fields, which are best avoided due to possible health effects.
For example, magnetic fields of 300-400nT, which are common in infrared saunas, have been included by the World Health Organization as possible carcinogens, based on research showing a doubling of childhood leukemia.
Learn more about the dangers of elevated electromagnetic fields and how to measure them.
The exception is Clearlight infrared saunas!
As a pioneer in infrared sauna panels, Clearlight has achieved near-zero levels of low-frequency electric and magnetic fields, with patent-pending technology.
The exclusive manufacturing process includes the use of twisted cables to cancel out magnetic fields, running the cables through grounded metal conduits, shielding all electronic components with aluminum, and grounding the re-carbonized mesh covering the heating panels.
Clearlight is also the only manufacturer worldwide that provides data on electric and magnetic field levels, and not by chance, as typical magnetic fields in other saunas are usually 50-100 times greater!
According to measurements by the VitaTech Electromagnetics laboratory (USA), magnetic field levels range from 0-11nT and electric field levels from 0-8 V/m, values much lower than the recommended exposure limits.
Learn more about the differences that make Clearlight a leading infrared sauna manufacturer.
Ability to disable wireless transmissions
In addition to low-frequency electric and magnetic fields from heating panels and wiring, many saunas also emit elevated high-frequency electromagnetic fields from Wi-Fi/Bluetooth emissions.
Clearlight is the company that manufactures the unique infrared panels with minimal electric and magnetic fields and, of course, it gives the option of disabling Wi-Fi/Bluetooth wireless emissions, for those who want to avoid all unnecessary electromagnetic field emissions from the sauna.
Back/seat comfort
Because you will be spending many hours in your infrared sauna, the comfort provided by the seat/bench is very important.
Since Dr. Raleigh Duncan, founder of Clearlight, is a Chiropractor, he has ensured that all Clearlight infrared sauna models (except the yoga model, as it does not have a fixed seat) feature an ergonomic backrest for added comfort and support during your sauna session.
The wooden heating panel guards are curved in an ergonomic shape along the back wall.
It is also possible to purchase an extra portable ergonomic backrest.
You can use the portable ergonomic backrest to sit comfortably against the side wall with your feet resting on the bench.
Tablet/smartphone stand for easy movie watching or reading
Because you will be spending a lot of time in the sauna, it is very useful to have some kind of support base.
On Clearlight sauna models you can place your tablet/smartphone on the door handle for easy viewing of your favorite shows or movies
12V low voltage socket for charging mobile phones, etc.
The 12V low voltage socket allows you to use portable devices (e.g. chargers, LEDs, fans, etc.) that operate on 12V inside the sauna.
You can use accessories intended for cars, caravans or boats (all work on 12V).
The most common use is for charging mobile phones/devices with a 12V USB adapter or for using a 12V aromatherapy device.
Clearlight saunas all have a 12V low voltage socket.
However, we do not recommend prolonged use of mobile phones or other devices inside the sauna because high temperatures may cause them to malfunction.
Ability to play music from the sauna speakers
Many sauna models allow you to connect your smartphone/tablet to the sauna speakers to listen to your favorite music/podcasts, etc.
For example, in Clearlight saunas, you can connect your smartphone/tablet to the sauna speakers via Bluetooth or the AUX jack (3.5mm).
Ability to control sauna via app
Some sauna models give you the ability to control your sauna remotely.
And this feature is important, since saunas require some warm-up time and you may want to have it preheated before entering.
Clearlight provides a special application (app) to remotely control your sauna.

Wood quality
In infrared (and generally hot) saunas, the choice of wood is critical, because the environment has high temperature, humidity changes and requires materials that do not release resins or odors and do not deform easily.
We recommend avoiding lower quality or less durable wood types or imitations for saunas, such as woods that have a lot of resin (drip or smell at high temperatures), have high shrinkage and warping with humidity, are porous and stain easily, or have knots that can pop.
Common examples of inferior quality wood:
- Pine – economical but with a lot of resin, can drip and burn the skin, deforms more easily.
- Spruce – light and inexpensive, but not very resistant to moisture and can “darken” or crack.
- Eastern Red Cedar – although durable, it has a strong odor that not everyone likes and can cause allergies.
- Low quality poplar (Poplar from unselected cuts) – may have unevenness and a shorter lifespan.
- MDF, plywood or treated wood – are completely contraindicated, because they release chemicals when heated.
The best woods for infrared saunas are those that have low resin content, resistance to heat and moisture, a soft texture so as not to burn the skin, and dimensional stability.
Examples of good quality wood for saunas:
- Canadian Hemlock (Canadian Fir / Tsuga) - Very low resin, stable, no strong odor, crack resistant.
- Western Red Cedar - Naturally resistant to mold and rot, pleasant aroma to many, thermal insulator (but needs to be selected from a reliable source to be safe for allergies).
- Aspen (European Aspen) - Smooth, knotless, does not secrete resins, good for people with sensitivities.
- Basswood (Tilia) - Very hypoallergenic, extremely low resin content, ideal for people with asthma or allergies.
- Alder - Thermally stable, with beautiful color and durability.
- Okoume - Very low resin content, smooth finish, lightweight, FSC certified
Clearlight, the company that manufactures the leading Sanctuary infrared saunas, has until now used Western Red Canadian Cedar (WRCC).
However, the supply of cedar from sustainable forestry has become increasingly scarce, which prompted Clearlight to explore alternative woods that meet its high standards and end up with Okoume wood.
The characteristics that make Okoume wood a top choice for infrared saunas are as follows:
- Sustainably Sourced Wood: Okoume wood comes from sustainably managed forests in North Africa, ensuring responsible forestry practices and ecological integrity - FSC certified.
- High Durability and Moisture Resistance: Okoume wood is extremely durable and moisture resistant, rated at 405 on the Janka Hardness Scale, compared to Cedar's 320, ensuring that saunas remain flawless for decades.
- Smooth Texture: The uniform fiber pattern provides a smooth surface and the hardness allows for smoother finishes.
- Lighter Color: The lighter color and tones of Okoume complement modern aesthetics and interiors.
- Low Resin Content: The low resin content gives Okoume a neutral aroma, making it ideal for those sensitive to strong odors.
Safety and non-toxicity certifications
Many saunas on the market do not even have the standard certifications (e.g. CE), resulting in safety risks, as well as problems in importing them from third countries.
Check if they have the minimum required certifications before ordering.
Clearlight, a leading manufacturer in the infrared sauna field, has all the certifications (CE marking for the European Union, ETL and ETL-C for the United States and Canada, SAA Approval for Australia and New Zealand) that certify that their products comply with international health and safety requirements.
They also have a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) confirming that the ingredients used in varnishes, adhesives and wood sealants do not contain toxic or hazardous materials, certification by an independent body that the saunas are free of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and our compliance with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive.

Technical support
Does the company that will sell you the sauna provide technical support and service in the event of a malfunction?
Since Clearlight provides you with a lifetime warranty, technical support is an important part of its services.
Clearlight's technical customer support team is based in Germany and can assist you with troubleshooting and warranty support. Most parts are easily owner replaceable, however, if you require a technician (e.g. an electrician), the technical support team will help coordinate local support where possible.
Delivery time
Since many infrared saunas are shipped from third countries, there are cases of many months of delay in receiving the sauna.
Clearlight ships infrared saunas from Germany and the delivery time is 10-20 business days from payment for 1-3 person saunas and 25 -35 business days from payment for 4 person saunas or larger (barring unforeseen circumstances).
Import from third countries
If you purchase an infrared sauna from a country outside the EU, you will incur large customs clearance fees that may reach double the purchase value.
For this reason, we recommend that you purchase saunas from companies operating within the European Union.
Installation / Assembly of the sauna
Before purchasing an infrared sauna, check if the company that supplies them provides you with any sauna installation service.
Many saunas are difficult to assemble and/or require technical personnel for electrical work.
Assembling the Clearlight infrared sauna is quick and easy. No technical knowledge is required. Each infrared sauna is pre-wired and precision-engineered for easy connection.
If you wish to do it yourself, assembly requires 2 people and takes 2-4 hours. No special tools are required, just a screwdriver.
And to avoid any surprises from parts shortages or malfunctions, Clearlight assembles each infrared sauna in the factory and tests each sauna to ensure it meets our strict quality control standards before shipping. It is then disassembled, boxed and shipped to you. This ensures that you receive your sauna in perfect condition.
In case you do not want to do the assembly yourself, Home Wellness collaborates with an external workshop with experience in installing infrared saunas.
Possibility of additional simultaneous treatment
Many saunas offer the opportunity to receive additional benefits during an infrared sauna session.
Chromotherapy
Models with chromotherapy allow the use of different lighting, depending on the mood/use.
Color psychology is a well-established field that studies how different colors can affect our mood and emotions and play a key role in treating stress and anxiety reduction, depression, and other mood disorders or imbalances.
Clearlight provides Chromotherapy Panels in all sauna models!
The 1 and 2 person models, as well as the 2 and 5 person outdoor saunas feature a lighting panel with 96 LED lights with 12 colors to choose from (Red, Deep Green, Deep Blue, Orange, Green, Blue, Deep Yellow, Deep Indigo- deep blue-purple, Deep Pink, Yellow, Indigo, Violet), 3 intensity levels and a remote control.
The 3+ person saunas feature two panels with a total of 192 LED lamps with 12 colors.

Red light therapy
Red light therapy is mainly used for anti-aging and dermatological problems, and research links it to faster wound healing, reduction of pain, psoriasis, herpes, wrinkles, scars, etc.
The Red Light Therapy Tower can be placed on the door of a Clearlight infrared sauna and powered from inside the sauna.
See more about the benefits of red light here.
Salt therapy
Salt has been used for millennia for its health benefits and therapeutic effects.
In recent decades, salt therapy, which involves the inhalation of microparticles of salt, has spread rapidly and is an ideal treatment for mild and moderate forms of bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive bronchitis, post-pulmonary conditions and various other respiratory and skin diseases.
The insignificant side effects, combined with the conduct of this treatment in a warm environment, have a beneficial effect on the psycho-emotional state of adult patients and children.
Clinical studies have shown that when people breathe this salty air, their respiratory system is stimulated and inflammation, infections, and nasal blockages are reduced.
The HALO ONE® device has been designed and manufactured to provide beneficial salt therapy sessions in wellness areas, spas, treatment centers, in your home, bathroom or office, but also inside infrared saunas.
The HALO ONE® device is the only salt therapy generator that can produce such small salt particles.
This means that the salt will reach a larger area of your lungs than any other salt therapy device on the market, helping you breathe easier.
